Describe the progress you've made this semester on your Genius Hour Project.
Teaching local kids basketball skills has been something I have been doing for years. Recently the Varsity boys assistant coach, Mr. Grondin has started a program called Flivver Fundamentals. This is the camp I have participated in by showing up the past couple weeks to help out the kids. Physically being there with the kids and helping them with basic basketball skills is what my entire Genius Hour is about. I made sure they took pictures and videos of me and the entire group to prove I was there and show people what it likes there. There is one last session this weekend on Sunday and I plan on attending the last one to help out in any way I can.
What is the most challenging aspect of your project so far?
So far there has not been anything too challenging. Although when I am with the kids it is hard for some to do basic skills and it can be frustrating to coach them. Also it is challenging to give one on one attention to each kid because some days there are so many people, which is good but some do not get the attention they need. Other than the fact some kids struggle this Genius Hour Project has been enjoyable for me and helpful to kids interested in basketball.
